As a calm summer evening settles over Roxborough, the park comes alive in a unique way as the moon rises and casts its gentle glow across the landscape. Even if you've wandered Roxborough's trails during the day, you'll be amazed at how the park transforms under the light of the rising full moon, revealing wonders you've never seen before. The cool night air awakens a whole different side to Roxborough State Park. Begin your adventure at the Visitor Center, then hike alongside the majestic sleeping giant red rocks as we explore the Fountain Valley Trail, discovering Roxborough's nocturnal magic. The Friends of Roxborough State Park are sponsoring the evening hike series once again for 2026. These monthly hikes throughout Summer and early Fall pair participants with knowledgeable volunteer guides who explore the secrets and natural beauty of Roxborough as the night unfolds. As these Moonrise Hikes are fundraising events for the Friends of Roxborough State Park, we ask for a donation of $8.00 per person. -- REGISTRATION FOR THE JUNE 28 MOONRISE HIKE IS FULL -- For the Sunday, June 28th Moonrise Hike: Start Hike - 7:30pm Moon rise - 8:03pm Sun set - 8:19pm Treats - 8:30pm Park closes - 9:00pm
