Campground Host

Castlewood Canyon is a quiet park located just east of Castle Rock Colorado. Centered on Cherry Creek the canyon has a diversity of natural resources that astound most who visit. With a visitor center, picnic areas, and fourteen miles of trails the park is a hidden treasure for those who truly love nature. This park is a day use park operating from sunrise to sunset, so hours vary with the change of the season.

Friends of Castlewood Canyon State Park

FRIENDS of Castlewood Canyon State Park is a nonprofit corporation that provides private support for critical fundraising and special project efforts of Castlewood Canyon State Park. FRIENDS will take a lead role in ensuring both the protection of Colorado's heritage and the provision of full outdoor opportunities for future generations.

Leave No Trace

The Leave No Trace initiative includes helping to implement the 7 principles in to all aspects of park operations. This will include education via social media, displays and park brochures. There are also opportunities to help with LNT education programs.

Naturalist

Become a Volunteer Naturalist at Castlewood Canyon and enjoy the unique beauty and history of the park! Volunteers have opportunities year-round to participate in educational workshops, hikes and social events. Volunteer Naturalists present educational programs to school groups and park visitors, hike the trails, work in the Visitor Center, work on special projects, complete trail projects, and monitor a variety of birds throughout the park. Volunteer Naturalists must enjoy working with people and have a love for the outdoors. Training is required to become a Naturalist at Castlewood Canyon and the first Naturalist training class will be on Saturday, January 25th.

Trail Ambassador

*This opportunity is only open to volunteers that have attended Castlewood Canyon Volunteer Naturalist training* As a Volunteer Naturalist, rove the park to talk to visitors and help with resource issues on the park's trails. Volunteers must act as responsible role models exhibiting a friendly face to the public, great personal trail etiquette, and leave no trace practices.

Weed Warriors

Volunteers serve with trained crew leaders and individually to help restore balance to this beautiful natural area by cutting, pulling, and digging nasty invaders like plumeless thistle and diffuse knapweed. Enjoy scenery, wildlife sightings, and the company of fellow volunteers while doing important and much-needed work.
