Do you care about Lathrop State Park and want to support your local park and community? What better way to prove your love by stepping up and forming a Friends of Lathrop State Park organization! Attempts have been made to establish a Friends group, but efforts have not remained consistent over the years and we are seeking dedicated individuals with great organizational skills, grant writing capabilities, and other professional management skills. Collaborate closely with park management to achieve shared goals. Responsibilities vary.

Assist with park maintenance, construction, and repair. Construct fence. Cleanup park grounds and facilities. Complete special or seasonal maintenance tasks as needed. (For example: boat dock repair). Do carpentry, remodeling or other construction projects. Provide landscape design expertise. Make park information signs. Assist with minor vehicle/boat/equipment repairs and maintenance.

If you enjoy interacting with people while being outdoors, this may be the opportunity for you! Lathrop State Park is recruiting park/boat safety ambassadors for the 2023 summer season to answer questions, share information, and be the eyes of the park on weekends in our popular day use areas. Shifts will be listed for 4 hours, but there is no minimum number of hours required on a shift. Any amount of time spent on the park is helpful. Volunteer shirt/hat and training will be provided.

Visitor Center/Office Support. Greet visitors, answer phones, and questions. Sell park passes and licenses and perform other clerical tasks. Staff a visitor center information desk or sales outlet. Coordinate a special event. Design and prepare exhibits, displays, and bulletin boards. Market and advertise park programs. Write and edit newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, and manuals. Produce artwork or graphic design for publications, signs, flyers, or exhibits.
