Campground Host
- Description:
Serve as a camp host and contribute your time to the rewarding operation that is Crawford State Park. Enjoy the mountainous terrain and the geological wonders of the North Fork Valley, featuring Needle Rock, Castle Rock, Sleeping Indian, and Saddle Mountain - all picturesque landmarks visible from the campsites at Crawford State Park. Nearby attractions include the towns of Crawford, Paonia, Hotchkiss and Delta, the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the Gunnison Gorge, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Assist campers
- Maintain campsites
- Sell firewood
- Other tasks as assigned

6592 feet
Host positions have been filled for the 2025 season but waitlist is still open.
Pairs, individuals, families with children, and people who are still working/in their careers (e.g. working remotely) are welcome to apply (couples preferred). Hosts are permitted to have pets.
- Time Commitment:
24 hours per person (couples) per week. 30 hours per person (single) per week. May - September.
Minimum time commitment:
2 months (preferably between May and September)
Desired time commitment:
3 months (may choose to stay through the full summer if desired)
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and can withstand inclement weather conditions.
- Volunteer Benefits:
Adjacent to the Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park, this scenic park offers camping, fishing, water sports and other leisure activities within the parks natural environment. Crawford State Park boundaries include 337 land acres and a 400-acre reservoir, with two separate campgrounds.
Amenities:
In exchange for volunteer service, the park provides three campground host sites with electrical (30 and 50 amp), water, and sewer hookups to a holding tank that holds 500 gallons. They are pumped as needed. Our hosts can also enjoy internet, cell service and laundry facilities.
