Bluebird (Nest box) Monitor Training  - Cheyenne Mountain State Park

Saturday, 15 March 2025 @ 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Community Science

Nest box monitors regularly check on nesting birds from Spring to late Summer at locations around Colorado Springs and Divide. This important community science effort contributes data to Nestwatch, which is a national effort by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to collect data on the nesting behaviors and success rates of cavity nesting bird species. A love of birds, commitment to the season, along with basic data entry skills (via App or Website) are necessary. Route assignments will be based on location and scheduling preferences. Classroom training will begin at 10am inside the Cheyenne Mountain State Park Visitor Center meeting room; if the weather cooperates, we will finish with a short field training session. Please bring water bottles, wear sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate for the conditions. Volunteers do not need a park pass to attend this training. In-person attendance is preferred, if you are unable to attend and need a virtual or recorded option, please email me at [email protected]
